This past weekend...

So this past weekend the family and I headed up to the annual TN Horror and Comic Convention in Nashville. The show went okay money wise. I really wasnt expecting too much with the way the economy has been going and the fact that guests like Dave Dorman, Steve Scott, Mark Kidwell, and Tommy Castillo were there wouldnt help move my work very much. I did manage to surprising sell a good number of prints of the Phantasm poster though. I wasnt expecting many people to be jumping at it like they did. I also did a few sketches and got to chat with old con friends I havent seen in a while.

But the highlight of the show would probably have been the fact that I got to FINALLY meet Mark Kidwell. For those that dont know Marks work, he started out on DeadDogs - Night of the Living Dead book, and Ive been hooked ever since. He's probably best known for his creator own book with fangoria comics, BUMP. Which if ya havent read, please go out and do so. Its in the process right now of being made into a movie starring Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) along with a slew of great actors and directed by Robert Kirksman (Wishmaster). Mark was probably one of the nicest people Ive ever met in comics. Right up there along side of Nat Jones. At the end of the show he came by my table and gave me a free page from the Night Of The Living Dead book. I seriously almost cried it was so cool. Anywho, below are a bunch of pics:

heres a pic of my table space at the show. Along with Ariel and Karisma too...

Next up are some drawings from the show I did. First up, golden age Black Widow.

Next - Nova...

Heres an old sketch I did back in feb. of this year that I forgot to get a picture of from Sean Taylor's (writer of Gene Simmons Dominatrix) sketch book of my version of The Creature.

Heres Bobby Nash (writer of Bloody Olde Englund) holding Karisma.

Mark Kidwell and I...

heres a picture of a tree hugger piece I bought from Mark from BUMP.

And heres the freakin SWEET page he was so nice enough to give me...

Lastly, a picture I couldnt resist taking. On the ride home we had to get off on an exit to feed Karisma and while we were in the parking lot of a Burger King, I noticed how expensive TN can really be...

On a different note, this week starts the beginning of me watching Karisma while Ariel goes back to work. Its good b/c I'll be getting to spend more time with her and I'll hopefully be able to work on my things, but I know the first week or so will take some time to adjust in so I might not be producing as much work as I'd like. We'll see though, I plan to do my best. Hope all is well with everyone. -jasn
