So, since the holidays are finally coming to a close, Im finishing the last few commissions Ive had sitting. Which is good b/c Im putting out a new call for commissions if anyone is interested. Recently I got into a car accident, thankfully not a serious one, but it has ended up leaving me needing around $500 to get my car back from the body shop. Money I dont unfortenately have at the time. Below is a list of my pricing for commissions. If you're reading this blog you've obviously seen my artwwork, but if you need examples check out my pics or email me and I can send you samples...

Last Blog of the year...?

Okay, so I was hoping to have finished this piece earlier in the night, but since I didnt its being considered a Wednesday post. This is the new poster for Splatter Cinema. They'll be showing Zombie in February.

Kinda proud of myself for finishing this a few weeks before they'll even need it. Now I can go finish the other commissions Ive been delaying. Heres a rundown of everything I'll be working ..ing up in the next few weeks.

• Ghostrider/Angel piece
• Wolverine in Detriot
• Black Canary meets a face hugger
• Galactis w/the dazzler
• 2wo different Punisher pieces
• The Cover to Emery Falls
• Many, many, B.O.E pages

Speaking of B.O.E., managed to pencil out anothe page and should have that inked within the week. This might be my last post of the year, just depends on how much Im able to kick out in the next week. Every one have a happy, safe holiday and new years. -jasn

Bloody Olde Englund pg.13

Though I should have gone to bed two hours earlier since Im having to get up at 5am, inspiration hit tonite. I pretty much spent the night finishing the tones on pg.13 of Bloody Olde Englund while listening to a podcast called: Crankcast featuring Mike Norton hosting an interview with one of my inspirations, Kevin Mellon talking about the politics of freelancing in the comix industry.

Kevin, buddy, if you're reading this thanx for the tips and knowledge. I enjoyed the listen. ;D
Heres the B.O.E. page fully toned. Enjoy.

Life + Stress = Less Artwork...

Well, its been a really stressful past few weeks...

Between close family members about to have major surgery to getting Karisma on a sleep schedule and me wrecking my car Sunday night (long story, needless to say it was my fault) and having to dish-out $400 I dont have at all (seriously), artwork has slowly been churning out. Im being really picky about the B.O.E pages, I guess b/c I want them to be nothing but awesome so Ive been just working on Emery stuff. Kinda sux, but I'd rather really kick ass with those then to half ass them. Heres a new Emery page though...

I picked up the dark knight this past friday, but will probably have to return it b/c of the lack of money. (sigh) Ive been really itching to watch it again.

Also, looking back through my last few weeks worth of posts, I'll probably only be able to update with new art once a week. Usually around Tuesdays. Im going to try and post more, but know that I should at least have something ever Tuesday.

(sigh) I think Im done with this year now...

Street Trash Movie Poster...

Just illustrated/colored this piece last night for Splatter Cinema's new movie they'll be showing in January. The movie is called Street Trash. Its a pretty cheezey, gorey movie which is right up my alley. Check it out if you're in the area.

Emery Falls - pg. 9

So heres page 9 of Emery Falls. Im going to have Nathan lettering the pages (hopefully within the next few days since he's got time off from school.) and will post those when they're done so the story will be a little less confusing.

As for Bloody Olde Englund and why I havent posted anymore of those pages, well it isnt b/c Im not working on it. No, no, Ive got pgs. 9-11 inked and pg. 12 penciled. Its just that the toning style I use on that book is more complex then the simple burn tool I use on Emery Falls. The plan is to get a good number of pages inked and then spend a solid week toning.

Alright, enough rambling more to come later. -jasn

Guess what came in the mail this weekend...

So a HUGE special thank you goes out to Mark Poulton for not only putting this book together, picking up the story Jay Busbee and I did, but for also sending me 10 copies of the book. Also, special thanx goes out to Sean O'Reilly for being such an awesome guy and great publisher of one of the coolest indie companies I know and Jay Busbee for writing and wanting to work on a story with a guy like me. Thanx guys. -jasn

A little recap on this week and the last.
Sunday was the Atlanta Comic Convention. Just want to thank everyone who came out to see me and got sketches done. I kick myself for not bringing my camera to take pictures, b/c I did a really cool Harley Quinn, Penguin, and Batgirl. Also, Ive got a Galactus still to do. Georges Jeanty, artist on Buffy the vampire slayer, was there and we chatted throughout the show. Nice guy. Ive met Georges many times before and he's always been extremely nice and welcoming. He invited me to some gathering his studio is having this weekend so I'll def. try to go.
In other news, today is my 5ive year anniversary with Ariel. Though we're only engaged, we still consider each year together as our anniversary. Special shout out to her. I LOVE YOU, little mama.
Okay, as for art, like I said in earlier blogs, taking care of Karisma (3)hree days a week, and then working the other (4)our, has def. been putting a strain on getting work finished. I can finally say though, that figuring out when and what time is available to draw is beginning to come together. I'll actually be posting a good number of new pieces through out the week. Below is a Frazetta's Dark Kingdom commission and pgs. 6 and 7 of Emery Falls. Ive got pgs. 9 and 10 completed for Bloody Olde Englund, but between work, Karisma, commissions, and trying to breathe, I havent had the time to tone them. Plus Im working on page 11, which looks amazing awesome if I do say so. Okay, enough talking. Enjoy the new pieces.

This past weekend...

So this past weekend the family and I headed up to the annual TN Horror and Comic Convention in Nashville. The show went okay money wise. I really wasnt expecting too much with the way the economy has been going and the fact that guests like Dave Dorman, Steve Scott, Mark Kidwell, and Tommy Castillo were there wouldnt help move my work very much. I did manage to surprising sell a good number of prints of the Phantasm poster though. I wasnt expecting many people to be jumping at it like they did. I also did a few sketches and got to chat with old con friends I havent seen in a while.

But the highlight of the show would probably have been the fact that I got to FINALLY meet Mark Kidwell. For those that dont know Marks work, he started out on DeadDogs - Night of the Living Dead book, and Ive been hooked ever since. He's probably best known for his creator own book with fangoria comics, BUMP. Which if ya havent read, please go out and do so. Its in the process right now of being made into a movie starring Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) along with a slew of great actors and directed by Robert Kirksman (Wishmaster). Mark was probably one of the nicest people Ive ever met in comics. Right up there along side of Nat Jones. At the end of the show he came by my table and gave me a free page from the Night Of The Living Dead book. I seriously almost cried it was so cool. Anywho, below are a bunch of pics:

heres a pic of my table space at the show. Along with Ariel and Karisma too...

Next up are some drawings from the show I did. First up, golden age Black Widow.

Next - Nova...

Heres an old sketch I did back in feb. of this year that I forgot to get a picture of from Sean Taylor's (writer of Gene Simmons Dominatrix) sketch book of my version of The Creature.

Heres Bobby Nash (writer of Bloody Olde Englund) holding Karisma.

Mark Kidwell and I...

heres a picture of a tree hugger piece I bought from Mark from BUMP.

And heres the freakin SWEET page he was so nice enough to give me...

Lastly, a picture I couldnt resist taking. On the ride home we had to get off on an exit to feed Karisma and while we were in the parking lot of a Burger King, I noticed how expensive TN can really be...

On a different note, this week starts the beginning of me watching Karisma while Ariel goes back to work. Its good b/c I'll be getting to spend more time with her and I'll hopefully be able to work on my things, but I know the first week or so will take some time to adjust in so I might not be producing as much work as I'd like. We'll see though, I plan to do my best. Hope all is well with everyone. -jasn
