FLASHBACK TUESDAY: ELEVEN
So this one's from 1999. I was 16 and in the 10th grade. I remember I was in detention hall or something silly and thought that it was awesome, because I had a ton of free time to just draw. So this is one of the pieces I doodled out. Its funny to me to see the bad anatomy of the figures all these years later. I do still like the looseness of the drawing though.

THE CAT IN THE HAT...
So my soon-to-be brother-in-law's wife is having a baby and their baby shower was this past weekend. They both love Dr.Seuss so we thought it would be a sweet gift to come up with something that would rhythm and be an original gift since 95% of the gifts would all be bought. So this is what I came up with... It inspired Nikki enough to make an awesome clay model of it too. I'll post pics of that soon.

FLASHBACK TUESDAY: TEN
Tenth week of Flashback Tuesdays. Hope people are getting a kick out of these and not just getting bored. Feedback on whether you like it or not is always welcome.
Here's a piece from 1998. I was 15. I drew this character during my Simon Bisley phase. I was reading anything and everything I could get my hands on of his. At the time, I believe it was only Lobo, Melting Pot and the Raph/Casey Jones mini-series books. But, needless to say, I still love Bisley's art.

FLASHBACK TUESDAY - NINE
One of the few drawings I still have saved in my personal collection. I present to you, THE FOUR MUTANTS. I was unfortunately a child of daycare growing up, not to say that there's anything wrong with that sorta thing, but I was in daycare until I was twelve... ya...
Anywho, if it wasnt for daycare though, I dont know where I'd be today. I met a kid by the name of Steven I believe, and one day Steven brought in a stack of Wolverine and Xmen comic books. I was seven. My life changed forever after that. I became obsessed with comic books. Now before this I did love He-man and Ninja Turtles, but it was something about seeing that amazing artwork that drove me over the edge to wanting nothing more in life than to draw comics forever. I still have the mini-comic I made of The Four Mutants somewhere in my boxes of saved artwork. I can still remember slight glances of my childhood sitting at the tables in daycare and just drawing my little comics while the rest of the classes all played and ran around.
Never knew it would be a fore shadowing of my later years to come... The drawing below is of some of the first comic book characters I ever created: (From left to right: Grenade, Mr.Heat, Mr.Freeze, and Tarantula) I was eight years old when I drew this...

FLASHBACK TUESDAY - EIGHT
HiVEN~
After graduating high school I was really on a big vampire kick. The Blade movies had just come out, which I loved, and I had finally watched Bram Stokers Dracula, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. So it only made since for me to channel those influences into my comic work. With that, I came up with HiVEN.
HiVEN is the story of a disturbed man who has the ability to see the demon form of the vampires. His father was a priest and did not see this ability as a gift, but more of a curse from a demon spirit that tried to inhabit HiVEN's body when born. A vampire by the name of Vos, comes to the church one day and kills the priest leaving HiVEN with the decision to either allow his father to change or kill him to save his soul. After making the painful choice to kill him, HiVEN vowes to track down the vampire and get revenge. But little does he know that Vos actually works for a vampire queen that is in a partnership with a mad man that can raise the dead and is determined to take over London with his army of the dead.
The book was a three issue mini-series that was illustrated in blk/wht and published back in 2003. I was 19 yrs old when I started the book and then turned 20 by the time I published it. Below are the first two pages to the first issue. Still own them and have them safely put away. It's hard to believe that it was almost ten years ago when I drew it. This too is another story I have in the works to be re-drawn one day. I have a pretty good script for it this time. Hopefully I can bring it back around again one day soon.
Until then,
