Its hard to believe that MegaCon was almost a week ago and I am STILL recovering from all the awesomeness. I had setup at the show in the past before, but last year was the first time in probably 3-4 years. Though we did fairly well last year, I walked away knowing a lot more about what I would need to come back the following year with to make it even more successful. So for the few months leading up to the show I busted out a ton of new pieces for the show. Sure enough, those pieces were big hits at the con! Everything from new Turtles, Power Rangers, and even Batman. So to get the full effect of how great the show was let’s start at the beginning.
My gf and I arrived on Thursday morning. We were staying at the Double Tree Hotel near Sea World. Though we had a difficult time dealing with check-in, we ended up having an amazing stay and room. It was later that night while we went walking around the hotel that I asked her to marry me under one of the lighted canapes. Of course she said, YES and a awesome start off to our trip!
Friday was a good day. Though traffic at the show was a little slow, we did manage to do fairly well that day. I also had a radio interview with THE POWWOWSHOW. If you go to their website: www.thepowwowshow.com and scroll down to MEGACON Day 1 LIVE you can listen to the interview I did for them. My interview starts right at 1:12:15.
Saturday was INSANE! That morning before the show I did another interview, this time with TODD H. Latoski from COMICRELATED.com. Todd was a super nice guy and the interview is up and posted over at this link: http://comicrelated.com/news/15197/artist-alley-day-2
I also did a sketch for Todd’s sketch book of Dr. Midnite, which you can view in the pictures below. Another highlight from Saturday came from an actor by the name of HECTOR DAVID JR. I didn’t know who he was until he purchased my green ranger print and introduced himself to me. Hector is the currently playing the Green Samaria Ranger on the new Nickolodean show! I also managed to get Hector to sign a photo for me and pose with the print he bought. Half way through Saturday, the traffic turned crazy and almost every few minutes we had people at the booth wanting something. It was very overwhelming, but also incredible!
Sunday was another great day. I did a few more convention sketches. All the sketches are below. The traffic was nothing compared to Saturday, but it was still better than Friday and we rocked it very well.
I just want to thank again everyone that stopped by the table and picked up a print, sketch, or book, and can not explain enough how much it means to me to know that people enjoy my artwork that much. I can not WAIT for next years show!!!
Enjoy the pictures:
